Aquatic Voyagers Scuba Club Trip July 17th - 24th

The Aquatic Voyagers Scuba Club club trip was in Roatan Hunduras this year.  We stayed at Anthoney's Key's Resort.  The resort was kinda on the rustic side....wood bungalows on stilts. The accomodations went from rustic to camping in the jungle for the unfortunate few who had no air conditioning.  Kudos to those who endured the heat and humidity.  You really must love diving!  I for one would have been on the first plane home if there wasn't any air in my room.  But enough about that..

Diving was nice and relaxing.  There was no surface current for the most part... flat glass.  I didn't see much big stuff on this trip.  I mostly focused on trying out my new macro lens to photograph things that were an inch or less in size.  Occassionally I switched to wide angle.  I really need to get the auto focus working on the macro lens.  Trying to get a good shot was hard to accomplish.

Our dives started with Jeromy our dive master saying, "Okay Divers this reef......"  Jeromy is the on the left.  OMG on the second dive he made the comment that some of us were rusty.  Oh geez did the peanut gallary grumble about that!  The dive masters and instructors in group got their feelings hurt big time!

Entertainment on the boat was ochestrated by Kramer.... note the Cheshire Cat grin.  He gained oh so much pleasure tourchering poor Will during his rescue certification.

Kramer even coined a phrase during the trip.  "Dumb Ass"  Kramer had strangers, other divers, even Will's wife calling him "Dumb Ass".  Now now... it was all done in fun.... and Will was a trooper.  All were subject to the "Dumb Ass" coined phrase when they did something or said something stupid.  Will as you can see got even.

Incidently on our way back from a tour around the island we did see a real dumb ass on the island.  Imagine the laughter in the van when we stumbled across our dumb ass!

Another coined phrase during the trip was introduced to the group by Judy. It all started when the group saw another diver in a very loud skin like this   or was the print more like this

You get the picture.  Bright sunny day and we see this.  And the conversation goes. " You know you have to be really good at what you do when you wear something loud."  "But what do you say to someone who asks you if you like what they have on ?"  And Judy answers, "My my, well look at you!"  To me the phrase is kinda like what you say when you see an ugly baby "What a pretty outfit!"  And so it went..... Anytime someone did something out of the ordinary they got a  "My my, well look at you!"

One of the coolest divers on the trip was my man Joe.  Joe didn't miss a dive, unless he was told to sit it out, which he was none to happy with when that happened.  When asked if he saw anything of interest on a dive, his response was, "I'm not interested in no fish.  I have to work on my skills!"  Well Joe had skills above and below the surface.

One night the resort had some entertainment. They had fire dancers.

We had our own entertainment as well.  Thank you Ivan.  (Note to self when in movie mode stay landscape.)

All in all the trip was nice. Good fun. Good people. Now it's time to plan for my next adventure.
